THE HOLIDAYS
It's In the Stars
A PLAN FOR THE NEW YEAR
This year, you probably won't get everything you want.
However, it is likely that you will get what you want most. It is
an exciting prospect. Allow it to reverberate in your mind.
Repeat is several times. "This year, I can get what I want the
most..." Get a grip on what is essential. Let go of everything
else. Where you can function outstandingly, act decisively. In
other words, strive toward a disciplined singlemindedness. Let's
take it through the numbers.
1. Establish your top priority for
the new year.
2. Make a list of reasons why you should go for it
and how you will benefit.
3. Create a step by step plan for every day.
4. For best results, repeat your plan out loud with an impassioned tone of
voice.
Good luck and Happy New Year.
MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY
Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15 which
makes his sun sign Capricorn. When you
talk about a long struggle and about never giving up you are talking about
Capricorn energy. A
Capricorn's ambitions are only limited by their self-esteem. Capricorn's were
born for
management and leadership. Planning and work pay off, especially for Capricorn.
The Capricorn
totem is the mountain goat symbolizing an ability to follow even the most
narrow path to the top
of the mountain. Although perhaps somewhat destined to face more than their
share of delays
and obstacles, Capricorn's only fail when they give up. Follow the lead of the
Reverend Doctor
Martin Luther King, connect with a righteous cause, persevere in your planning
and efforts and
never, never, never, never, never give up.
VALENTINES DAY
Valentines Day is celebrated on February 14, when the
Sun is in Aquarius. When the Sun is in
Aquarius, it is said to be in it's "detriment" and is associated with heart
problems. Thus during
this cold hard time we celebrate the heart energy and romantic love.
ST PATRICK'S DAY
For the purposes of this page it's AdZe O'MiXXe, thank you.
Like all holidays, St. Patrick's Day is attuned to astrology's
cosmic calendar. Outside, in the natural environment, you can feel
the surge of spring as it overtakes winter. Thus, the "wearin' of
the green." march 17th is the Pisces time of
year. Astrologers
associate Pisces with the planet Neptune
which is symbolic of among
other things, charisma, spirits and myth. That sounds like
leprechauns to me. If in your St. Patrick's Day celebrations you
indulge in "one too many," well that's just another kind of Pisces
"spirits," isn't it? Since Pisces is a compassionate, giving
style, St' Patrick's Day isn't a "major holiday" to everyone. It is
a special one for the compassionate, giving, spirited folk. Happy
St. Patrick's Day. It's in the stars.
THE VERNAL EQUINOX (Spring)
When the Sun enters the astrological sign of
Aries and the
spring season officially begins, the days will catch up with the
nights and the light will overcome the darkness. The winter gods
will migrate to the southern hemisphere. Once again, the primal
forces of life will accelerate their relentless pulsations through
our veins and throughout the northern half of the earth itself.
Seize this opportunity for renewal. Budget more time for fresh
air, sunshine and moonlight. Get yourself a copy of Stravinsky The
Right of Spring and play it over and over. Rejoice, in the
cyclical nature of reality. Allow yourself to recharge. It is a
viable option.
EASTER SUNDAY
Easter is a wonderful though perhaps mysterious time of the
year. The dreariness of winter is clearly behind us and the spring
season is in full bloom with all of the accompanying light, warmth,
scents and flowers. Yet, there is something puzzling about Easter.
Specifically, unlike Christmas and Independence Day, Easter does
not fall on a fixed date and unlike Labor Day, Memorial Day,
Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Day, Easter is not determined by a
simple formula such as the first Sunday or last Thursday or Monday
of a given month. In fact, to determine when Easter will occur, one
needs to follow a somewhat complex astrological formula. Simply
put, Easter is the first Sunday (day of the Sun i.e. son) after the
first full moon, after the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring).
Happy Easter.
EARTH DAY
When the Sun is in
Taurus. we celebrate Earth
Day. It's a
good fit because Taurus is said to be an
"earth sign," and
naturally ecologically minded. Taurus is all about being
acquisitive. On the plus side, Taurus is patient and dependable. On
the negative side, Taurus is stubborn and lazy. That's life on this
earth, and that's what conservation is all about. For a Taurus, it
is important to have enough so as to not be in survival jeopardy.
And so it is on Earth Day. What you give to the environment, you
get back. Start by putting your own space in order. Clean up "your
room." Get some plants and flowers. Put in a tree. Happy Earth Day.
It's in the stars.
MEMORIAL DAY
On the Last Monday in May, the Sun is in
Gemini. This
holiday is a winner all the way because Gemini is practically
synonymous with memory. Gemini is all about versatility. On the
plus side, Gemini is witty and eloquent. On the minus side it is
tricky and scattered. Isn't that just like a memory. Here's a
little memory trick I find convenient to sort out Memorial Day
and
Labor Day. Remember Labor day is all about work as in
Virgo.
Memorial Day is all about memory as in Gemini. When the Sun is in
Gemini, we celebrate Memorial Day, when the Sun is in Virgo, we
celebrate Labor Day.
INDEPENDENCE DAY
On July 4, the Sun is
in Cancer. In fact, when the good old
USA was born on July 4, 1776, several planets were in Cancer,
specifically Mercury,
Venus and
Jupiter. Cancer is all about
emotions. On the plus side it represents nurturing and patriotism.
On the negative side, it can be clingy and smothering. Like all
Cancerians who are symbolized by the crab, the USA likes to
sidestep trouble whenever possible. Our country was founded upon
the wise Cancerian principle of no foreign entanglements.
Cancerians are known for withdrawing into their shell. Finally, it
must be noted that Cancer is a so called "feminine sign" and that
it is the destiny of the USA to become the first land truly safe
for women and children.
LABOR DAY
On the first Monday in September the Sun
in Virgo, which
among other things, signifies work on labor. Consequently, this is
a perfect time of year to honor your own labors and reflect on how
you want to work out your future. Since Virgo also symbolizes
details, planing and ritual, you may wish to decide upon new
details, plans and rituals to insure greater success in your future
work world. Also, Virgo is about doing little things and doing
them on a consistent basis. So, even if you choose to make a
moderate improvement, you can make a significant difference by
practicing on a regular basis. Happy Labor Day. It's in the
stars.
HALLOWEEN
On October 31, the Sun is in
Scorpio, and we celebrate
Halloween. Scorpio is all about intensity. On the plus side,
Scorpio is powerful and magical. On the negative side it is
vindictive and sadistic. That sounds like "trick or treat" to me.
One of the best parts of Halloween is dressing up in "play
clothes," and getting into costume. A typical Scorpio trait is to
show you only what they want to show you. A Halloween mask is just
the thing for those purposes. Halloween parties are known for their
sometimes ribald sophisticated themes, which is another Scorpio
trait. Happy Halloween. It's in the stars.
THANKSGIVING
All of the major holidays can be directly correlated to the
Sun's passage through the 12 signs of the zodiac.
Thanksgiving is
no exception. By the time the last Thursday in November rolls
around, the Sun is in
Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is a sporty social
sign. It is all about wheeling and dealing.
Jupiter is the ruling
planet of Sagittarius.
Now, Thursday is
named after Thor, the Viking version of Jupiter. Thanksgiving is always
held on Jupiter's Day.
Jupiter literally means "to break bread
with." Think about it for a moment. Sagittarius is sporty and
does things in a big way, Thanksgiving is full of major football
games. The pilgrims did some wheeling and dealing with the native
Americans and then celebrated over a meal. In a negative context,
Sagittarius can be greedy and excessive. This too is a lesson of
Thanksgiving. A little moderation at the supper table will prove
helpful. Enjoy yourself.
THE CHRISTMAS STAR
First and foremost among the Christmas icons, or symbols if
you will, is the wise men from the east following the "Christmas
Star." Furthermore, it is said that when they saw the star, "they
rejoiced with exceedingly great joy." Today, scholars search for
the Christmas star. Was it a comet? Was is a supernatural
phenomenon, or an exploding nova, or something else? Going back to
the Bible, it is only Matthew who deals with this subject.
According to Matthew, only the Magi -- astrologers who traveled from
the east -- were aware of the Christmas star. No one in Bethlehem
is said to have seen the star. Herod and his court were ignorant
until the astrologers enlightened them. So, it would seem that the
Christmas star was something only known to highly trained
astrologers! Bear that in mind next time you seek council!
When Christmas is celebrated the Sun is in
Capricorn which is the sign of advance
planning and
big business. Perhaps you should be planning a business venture of your own so
that you can
capitalize on the annual Capricornian Christmas spending spree. Just as a state
or province is said
to be ruled by a governor, the signs of the zodiac are ruled by planets.
Capricorn is ruled by
Saturn. Saturn as in saturnine an
adjective describing a melancholic and sullen disposition which
many feel at this time of year. And then there's Saturn as in saturnalia the
seven-day Roman
festival of Saturn which began on December 17th. This was an unrestrained
celebration with
more than licence for a mere kiss under the mistletoe. Ultimately the choice is
yours, saturnalia
revelry or saturnine depression, either way, that's Capricorn for you.
