Mercedes-Benz's electric CLA is one of the most talked-about premium electric sedans in Turkey. The main reason is simple: it is cheaper than the petrol CLA with the same body. On the October 2026 price list, the CLA 200+ AMG Line costs TL 4,449,000. The petrol CLA 220 4MATIC AMG costs TL 4,873,000. That puts the electric version about TL 424,000 below the petrol one.

The model went on sale in Turkey in May 2026 at TL 4,191,000. Over five months the price went up by about TL 258,000 (roughly 6%), and the electric car is still cheaper than its petrol sibling. This article skips the brochure figures. It looks at how the car actually charges at Turkish stations and what that costs you.

A Turkey-Specific Powertrain: Why 160 kW?

The electric CLA first came to Turkey as the CLA 350 4MATIC Edition 1 AMG. It was priced at TL 4,690,000 and fell into the top special consumption tax (ÖTV) bracket of 75%. Mercedes-Benz Türkiye responded with the rear-wheel-drive CLA 200+, whose output is capped at 160 kW (218 PS).

That cap puts the CLA 200+ in the 55% ÖTV bracket. At launch its pre-tax price was about TL 2.25 million. In Turkey, EV prices usually depend more on ÖTV thresholds than on the motor, and the CLA 200+ was built specifically to fit under one.

Two lines in this table stand out: the 800-volt architecture and 320 kW DC charging. Few cars in this class offer both. Apart from the Hyundai IONIQ 6, it is hard to find an 800V sedan at this price in Turkey.

How Far Does "730 km" Really Go?

WLTP figures are measured in mild weather with mixed driving. In a road test by a Turkish car magazine, the CLA 200+ averaged 16.1 kWh/100 km over 464 km. At that rate, the 85 kWh net battery gives about 530 km of real-world range.

That is about 27% below the WLTP figure, but it is still strong. Most electric sedans sold in Turkey don't reach 530 km even on the WLTP cycle. A rough guide:

  • City driving, mild weather: 600 km or more is possible
  • Mixed driving: about 500–550 km
  • Motorway at 120 km/h in winter: expect it to drop to around 400–450 km (estimate)

Charging in Practice: The CLA 200+ at Turkish Stations

What the 22-minute figure requires

The manufacturer's 10–80% in 22 minutes applies to high-power charging (HPC) stations, where the car can draw up to 320 kW. In an independent test on a 720 kW HPC unit, peak power was 227 kW (at 36% battery), and 34% to 80% took 17 minutes. At the right station, the 22-minute claim holds up.

The catch is that Turkey still has few DC stations above 300 kW. At the stations you will usually find on the road, expect roughly these times:

Station typeApprox. time for 10–80%Note
300 kW+ HPC~22 minManufacturer figure
150–180 kW DC~30–35 min (approx.)Limited by the station, not the car
60 kW DC~65–70 min (approx.)Most urban DC chargers
50 kW DC~75–85 min (approx.)Older-generation units
22 kW AC~5.5–6 hoursThe car accepts 11 kW AC at most
11 kW AC~5.5–6 hoursIdeal for overnight or car park charging

Important: the CLA 200+ draws no more than 11 kW on AC. A 22 kW AC socket won't charge it any faster. AC is fine if you're parked at a mall or hotel for a few hours. On a road trip stop, you'll need DC.

How many kilometres does 10 minutes add?

Mercedes says 10 minutes at a suitable DC station adds 280–325 km of WLTP range. Using real-world consumption (16.1 kWh/100 km), that comes to about 230–270 km. That's still a lot of range for a 10-minute coffee stop.

Charging Costs: How Much to Charge a CLA 200+?

As of September–October 2026, public stations charge roughly TL 9.90–11.19/kWh for AC and TL 12.90–16.49/kWh for DC. Standard DC at the big operators usually costs TL 12.99–14.98, and HPC stations go up to TL 16.49.

10–80% fast charge (≈59.5 kWh)

70% of the 85 kWh battery is about 59.5 kWh:

TariffUnit price10–80% cost (approx.)
Standard DC (lower band)TL 12.99/kWh~TL 773
Standard DC (upper band)TL 14.98/kWh~TL 891
HPC (high power)TL 16.49/kWh~TL 981
ACTL 9.95/kWh~TL 592

Charging losses are not included, so the actual bill may be a few percent higher.

Those 59.5 kWh give about 370 km at real-world consumption, or about 440 km at WLTP consumption.

Cost per 100 km

Based on the test consumption of 16.1 kWh/100 km:

  • DC only (TL 14.98/kWh): ~TL 241 per 100 km
  • AC only (TL 9.95/kWh): ~TL 160 per 100 km
  • WLTP consumption + AC: ~TL 134 per 100 km

A driver who uses DC on long trips and AC in town can expect to pay about TL 180–200 per 100 km.

Is "320 kW" more expensive?

Some operators charge higher rates at HPC stations. A car like the CLA 200+ charges fast anyway, so paying TL 16.49 for a 22-minute session isn't always necessary. If your break will last 30–35 minutes regardless, a standard 150–180 kW DC station saves you about TL 90 on a 10–80% charge.

Prices come from price lists of different dates and vary with campaigns and trim.

The table shows three things:

  1. The Togg T10F has a similar battery for half the price, but its 180 kW DC limit means longer stops on the road.
  2. The IONIQ 6 matches the CLA on charging speed, or slightly beats it, and costs less.
  3. The electric C-Class costs about TL 1.9 million more than the CLA without a clear advantage in range or charging speed. Most of the gap comes from extra power, 4MATIC and the 75% ÖTV bracket.

The CLA 200+'s main strength is that it offers the longest WLTP range in its class, together with a premium badge and 800V charging. It also costs less than its petrol sibling.

Who Is It For?

  • Drivers covering 500+ km a week: 530 km of real range and 22-minute charging mean routes like Istanbul–Ankara need one stop at most, sometimes none.
  • Buyers considering the petrol CLA: the purchase price is lower, and energy costs are much lower than petrol.
  • Drivers who can charge at home: charging overnight with an 11 kW home charger can bring the cost per 100 km below TL 160.

One thing to keep in mind: output was capped at 160 kW to stay under the ÖTV threshold. Drivers who want performance may find a 7.6-second 0–100 time underwhelming for a Mercedes.
